Federal prosecutors have charged Arrabaca with destruction of property by means of fire and causing personal injury or substantial risk of injury—charges that carry a mandatory minimum of seven years behind bars and up to 40 years. If we are serious about protecting federal employees, taxpayers, and the rule of law, those statutes must be enforced fully and without the theater of leniency that signals permissiveness to would-be attackers.
We should also call out the cultural rot that allows this kind of political arson to be incubated: from campus radicals to activist celebrities, the left’s tolerance—and sometimes encouragement—of illegal escalation has real consequences for everyday Americans.
