Gaetz Scorches Christie in Fiery Takedown Over Wray Defense!

Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) didn’t hold back in his criticism of former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who defended FBI Director Christopher Wray’s job performance. Gaetz, speaking on Fox News, didn’t mince words when he said, “The problem is they’re just extraordinarily awful.” Ouch!

But Gaetz didn’t stop there. He went on to slam Christie for his comments about fundraising theater during the House Oversight Committee’s hearing. Gaetz pointed out that he didn’t want any advice on fundraising from a guy who was once a lobbyist and knee-deep in lobbyist financial money laundering. Gaetz hilariously quipped, “I’m more likely to take Chris Christie’s exercise plan than I am his fundraising strategy.”

Christie’s post-governorship activities didn’t help his case either. After leaving the governorship, Christie made it clear that he wanted to “have fun and make money.” And boy, did he do just that. He started his own consulting firm, worked for gambling company DraftKings, and earned hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees from lobbying for a biotechnology corporation. Oh, and let’s not forget about his almost quarter-million-dollar payday from lobbying the Trump administration for Covid-19 relief funds. Talk about cashing in!

Gaetz’s critique of Christie garnered laughs and agreement, especially as he questioned his fundraising strategy. But Gaetz didn’t just stop at Christie, no sir. He also participated in grilling FBI Director Wray about alleged controversies and a potential two-tiered justice system. Gaetz directly asked Wray if he was protecting the Bidens from investigations into alleged bribery schemes and lucrative business dealings involving Hunter Biden.

It wasn’t just Gaetz who was firing shots at the FBI. Other Republican members on the committee urged Wray to release details about cocaine found at the White House, which he refused to do. And while Wray wouldn’t confirm or deny an ongoing FBI investigation into President Biden, House Oversight Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) delivered an explosive opening statement. He accused the FBI of corruption from within, describing a laundry list of lawbreaking activities.

It’s clear that Gaetz and his fellow Republicans aren’t backing down when it comes to holding the FBI accountable. They believe there’s a double standard when it comes to pursuing criminal charges, with Trump in the crosshairs while allegations against Biden are seemingly ignored. Gaetz and company aren’t afraid to speak up, even if it means ruffling some feathers and calling out those who defend the status quo. And they certainly provided plenty of entertainment and fireworks during the committee hearing.
