GOP Reveals Hutchinson Changed Jan 6 Testimony, Questions Credibility

House Republicans dropped a bombshell on Monday, exposing the so-called “significant substantive changes” made by Cassidy Hutchinson to her testimony regarding the events of January 6, 2021. The GOP’s investigation into the Democratic-led select committee on the riots following the 2020 election revealed that Hutchinson altered her account multiple times, raising doubts about her credibility.

Barry Loudermilk, the House Administration Committee’s oversight subcommittee Chairman, pulled back the curtains on the 15-page errata sheet containing Hutchinson’s modified responses. It appears that Hutchinson conveniently “forgot” crucial details about conversations she claimed not to have been privy to, only to later adjust her statements, citing “significant substantive changes.”

The March 11 report from House Republicans suggests that Hutchinson’s version of former President Donald Trump’s actions on January 6 lacked corroboration from other White House employees. The released document exposes original and altered responses from Hutchinson’s testimony on four different interview dates in 2022. These changes mainly center around the rally of Trump supporters and the events leading up to the Capitol breach.

Notably, Hutchinson initially denied being present for a discussion between Mark Meadows and Rudy Giuliani regarding the certification of the 2020 election results on January 6. However, she later revised her response to acknowledge that delaying or preventing the Joint Session was indeed discussed. Furthermore, her altered response regarding a call from Trump to Mike Pence suggests that she conveniently “learned” about the call and Trump’s irate demeanor on that fateful day.

The document also reveals how Hutchinson altered her responses regarding the rally, now claiming to recall reports of firearms and dangerous items present, despite previously denying knowledge of these details. Her flip-flopping extends to Meadows’s reaction to reports of bear spray and pocketknives at the rally, with Hutchinson first claiming ignorance and later asserting that Meadows was unconcerned.

House Republicans, including Loudermilk, have alleged that the Democratic-led panel selectively showcased Hutchinson’s testimony while disregarding contradictory testimonies from other White House individuals. The exposure of Hutchinson’s ever-changing narrative casts serious doubt on the integrity of the Democratic-led committee’s investigation.

Moreover, the release of 22 transcribed interviews from witnesses, including Hutchinson and anonymous White House employees, underscores the Republican effort to bring transparency to the forefront. The Washington Examiner’s attempts to obtain comments from Loudermilk and Hutchinson’s representation have been met with silence, leaving the public to draw its own conclusions about this troubling revelation.
