A decade ago, before famous Olympian Bruce Jenner publicly announced that he was transgender, the idea of transgenderism was not as widely accepted as it is now. In 2013, a popular horror movie called “Insidious: Chapter 2” depicted a villain who was driven to become a transgender serial killer due to childhood grooming by his mother.

The villain, named Parker Crane, was shown as a young boy being mentally and physically abused by his mother, who forced him to adopt a female identity and go by the name “Marilyn.” The film portrayed the mother as the true villain, who abused her son and fueled his rage and wickedness even after his death.
The portrayal of child grooming for transgender identity in the movie was seen as universally understood and attracted no controversy at the time. The film makers presented the idea of encouraging children to dress up as the opposite sex as wrong and perverted, and it was considered the stuff of horror movies.
