House Halts Biden’s Big Labor Boondoggle, Defends Job Creators!

In a move that can only be described as pure political grandstanding, the House of Representatives voted 206-177 on Friday to overturn an ill-conceived rule concocted by the Biden administration’s cronies over at the National Labor Relations Board. This rule, which sought to redefine and expand the meaning of “joint employer” status, was nothing more than a shameless ploy to strip power away from hardworking American job creators and hand it over to Big Labor.

The joint resolution, H.J.Res. 98, had the backing of Republican Rep. John James (R-MI), who saw through the smoke and mirrors of the Biden administration’s regulatory overreach. While the resolution did garner bipartisan support, with eight Democrats showing a rare moment of clarity, the overwhelming opposition from Republicans in the House sends a strong message that this administration’s socialist agenda is out of touch with the needs of small businesses and hardworking Americans.

Of course, the vote, while a valiant effort, may end up being merely symbolic, as the Senate’s stance on the issue remains uncertain. Furthermore, the self-proclaimed champion of the working class, President Joe Biden, has vowed to veto the legislation if it ever makes its way to his desk. But we all know that the president and his cohorts are more interested in pleasing the union bosses than actually standing up for real workers.

The rule concocted by the Biden administration would have effectively made it easier for unions to sink their teeth into more American businesses by expanding the definition of “joint employer.” This would have inevitably led to an onslaught of unnecessary regulations and burdensome red tape that would have suffocated the life out of millions of job creators.

During the debate ahead of the House vote, Rep. John James astutely pointed out that this rule was just another cog in the socialist machine that seeks to strangle the free market and sap the entrepreneurial spirit from hardworking Americans. He rightly emphasized that it’s not government bureaucrats who create jobs, but rather the innovative and hardworking entrepreneurs and small business owners who are the backbone of our economy.

The opponents of the NLRB rule, speaking to the Washington Examiner, expressed well-founded concerns that the new standards would cast an overly wide net, ensnaring small businesses like franchisees and independent contractors in a web of unnecessary legal battles. It’s clear that the Biden administration’s rule was nothing more than a wolf in sheep’s clothing, disguising its anti-business agenda under the guise of “protecting workers.”

The White House, unsurprisingly, has remained silent on the House’s passage of the resolution, but their previous statements make it clear that they are more concerned with pandering to Big Labor than standing up for the true needs of American workers and businesses. We can only hope that common sense prevails and the Senate rejects this burdensome and unnecessary rule so that hardworking Americans can continue to thrive and create jobs without government interference.
