House Speaker Mike Johnson Dismisses Threats of Ouster, Focuses on Legislative Duties

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) shrugged off any worries about being ousted from his leadership position, despite ongoing threats from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

On Fox and Friends, Johnson confidently dismissed the possibility of a motion to vacate the speakership, emphasizing that he’s focused on doing his job and is not concerned about political games. He also highlighted the House’s decision to vote separately on foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel, and other countries, presenting it as a resolution to the turmoil that led to the threats against him.

Greene’s persistence in pushing for Johnson’s removal was evident through her motion to vacate, filed prior to the chamber’s recess. Even though Johnson and Greene met, the Georgia Republican remained steadfast in her criticism of the House speaker, specifically targeting his approach to separate foreign aid bills.

Joining Greene in her efforts, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) publicly announced his support for the motion to vacate, expressing a desire to see a new GOP Speaker take the reins.

As tensions continue to brew within the Republican ranks, Johnson remains resolute in his stance, confident in his ability to lead and unyielding in the face of opposition from fellow conservatives.
