In a stunning display of radicalism, an immigration advocate with the audacity to call for the abolition of our borders met with a top official from the Biden Administration’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. Setareh Ghandehari, who proudly displays the hashtag “AbolishBorders” in her bio on the platform formerly known as Twitter, gleefully announced her meeting with ICE Chief of Staff Michael D. Lumpkin on social media. Can you believe it?

Ghandehari, who serves as an advocacy director for the anti-immigration detention group Detention Watch Network, used this meeting as an opportunity to spew her organization’s demands. She brazenly called for a world without ICE detention and a future where everyone can live freely, with the support of their community, without any regard for our immigration laws. It’s clear that Ghandehari and her ilk have no respect for the rule of law and believe that open borders are the answer to all our problems.
Meanwhile, ICE has been tasked with the herculean job of dealing with over 6 million illegal migrants released into our country in fiscal year 2023 alone. These individuals are being monitored by the agency, as they navigate their immigration cases. But instead of supporting our law enforcement agencies and recognizing the importance of border security, Ghandehari and her radical friends want to dismantle ICE and leave us vulnerable to further illegal immigration.
As if that weren’t enough, Ghandehari also had the audacity to call for the closure of detention centers such as Torrance, Winn, and Adelanto. These facilities play a crucial role in ensuring that those who pose a threat to public safety and national security are detained while their immigration cases are processed. But according to Ghandehari, apparently, immigrants should be free to roam our streets without consequence. What kind of message does that send to those who respect our laws and have gone through the proper channels to immigrate to our great nation?
It’s clear that President Biden’s administration has already adopted a dangerously lax approach to immigration enforcement. But individuals like Ghandehari are just pushing for even more radical policies that would undermine the safety and security of American citizens. We cannot allow their extremist agenda to prevail. We need to stand up for the rule of law and support our law enforcement agencies who work tirelessly to enforce our immigration laws and keep our communities safe. Open borders may sound appealing to the radical left, but the consequences for our nation would be disastrous. It’s time to put the safety of our citizens first and reject the calls to abolish ICE.
