Jim Carrey, a comedian, announced his departure from Twitter after billionaire Elon Musk took over the company.
He posted a cartoon he made with Jimmy Hayward, which was based on his painting of a lighthouse keeper. In the image, the lighthouse keeper is seen standing naked in a storm and shining his lamp to guide his companions.
In addition to the cartoon, Carrey also included an animated short. It features a singing lighthouse keeper.
Although Carrey did not provide a reason for his departure from Twitter, it's possible that it had something to do with Musk. He is the latest celebrity to leave the platform after a growing number of prominent individuals.
Some celebrities are still staying on Twitter to fight back. Actress and activist Alyssa Milano stated that she will not leave the platform due to what she views as a "turf war." She also warned that activists would not be able to control what happens on the platform.
Musk's ownership of Twitter resulted in the company dropping its pandemic-era misinformation policy. It had previously suppressed accounts and tweets that shared misleading or harmful information.
