Jim Jordan: Radical Left Waging War on Our Elections

Rep. Jim Jordan joined Carl Higbie’s FRONTLINE this week to lay down a simple, unvarnished truth: our elections and our courts are under coordinated attack from the radical left. His appearance reinforced what conservatives have been saying for years — that voter ID is about protecting the integrity of the ballot while Democrats posture about “access” to mask their hunger for power.

Jordan was blunt about voter ID as a commonsense reform that restores confidence in elections, backing measures like the SAVE America Act that would require proof of citizenship at registration and a photo ID at the polls. Conservatives aren’t out to make voting harder for lawful Americans; we’re fighting to make it harder for fraud and for foreign or illegal votes to dilute the voice of citizens.

On the judiciary, Jordan cut through the left’s hysteria: the job of Supreme Court justices is to interpret the law, not to invent policy from the bench. Democrats who scream about “unaccountable judges” don’t actually want accountability — they want judges who will enact their agenda when they fail at the ballot box, and that’s a direct threat to the separation of powers.

This is not a philosophical luxury; it’s the core of our republic. Conservative jurists and lawmakers insist the court remain an umpire, not a legislature in robes, and that standard has been defended repeatedly by conservative legal thinkers and nominees who pledge to apply the law as written. If we surrender that principle we surrender the rule of law itself.

Make no mistake: the left’s opposition to common-sense voter ID isn’t about compassion — it’s about chasing votes. As other conservative leaders on the same programs have pointed out, Democrats routinely oppose citizenship checks and ID mandates because those rules would make it harder for noncitizen and otherwise illicit ballots to influence outcomes. We must call that out plainly and refuse to normalize the left’s cynical calculus.

Patriotic Americans shouldn’t cower while the left tries to remake institutions to serve their short-term gains. We need lawmakers who will pass voter ID, defend neutral jurists who interpret rather than legislate, and restore faith in the institutions that keep liberty alive. Stand with those who put country over party, and demand leaders who will protect our ballot, our courts, and our Constitution.
