Kamala Harris Backed by IRS Agents Union Raises Eyebrows

The latest endorsement by Kamala Harris might just be the crowning achievement of her campaign, and not in a good way. Despite being showered with the support of various celebrities—including the highly coveted endorsement from pop icon Taylor Swift—Harris has managed to snatch the backing of the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU). But before anyone gets too excited, let’s unpack what this really means: she now has the endorsement of the IRS agents’ union. Yes, that’s right; the same folks who may have sent more than a few taxpayers into existential crises during audit season are now on Team Kamala.

The NTEU, which represents thousands of IRS agents across the country, has decided that Harris is their gal because she is seen as a champion for federal employees. While she’s busy collecting accolades from those who likely have cushy government jobs, the average American is wondering just how much more of their hard-earned money will end up in the IRS’s coffers. After all, Harris, in her usual fashion, has touted that she aims to make the government work for everyone—except for those who would prefer to keep more of their paycheck, of course.

In her latest public relations stunt, Harris celebrated the NTEU’s endorsement by promoting her administration’s supposed commitment to fair pay and adequate staffing for federal employees. Ironically, while raising federal employee morale, it’s unclear how well she deals with the taxpayers footing the bill for this “compassion.” With $80 billion in funding aimed at pumping up the IRS, primarily through the Inflation Reduction Act, many taxpayers are left scratching their heads. This act is just another bloated government initiative presented as a boon for the working class while ultimately benefitting bureaucrats.

Political commentators are now having a field day, pointing out that the NTEU has historically funneled money into Democratic campaigns, pouring in 97% of their political action committee money to Democrats during the 2022 election cycle. So it’s a little curious that Harris would want to flaunt this endorsement as a badge of honor. Perhaps, given the union’s heavy lean toward the Democratic Party, the IRS employees see their futures shaped by leaders whose primary concern is growing an already expansive federal government.

It’s even more ironic when factoring in that her campaign has had to struggle to secure endorsements from other important sectors like the Teamsters. While she pulls in praise from those who might benefit from increasing auditor manpower, the lack of support from a major labor group speaks volumes. This tells voters who Harris really stands for. More agents mean more audits, which spells trouble for everyday Americans who work hard to provide for their families.

For the Trump campaign, promoting Harris’s newfound glow from union insiders could be a strategic goldmine. Highlighting her commitment to expanding the IRS at the taxpayer’s expense frames her as an advocate for government rather than the people. The contrast between a powerful union and the concerns of local workers could serve as a rallying cry for conservatives. Instead of a campaign booster, this endorsement might just prove to be the campaign killer that Harris never saw coming.
