Kamala Harris Copies Trump with Plan to Eliminate Tip Taxes

Kamala Harris has made headlines again, but this time, she’s not just stumbling through her usual verbal acrobatics; she’s channeling her inner Donald Trump. During a recent rally at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, Harris jumped on the tip tax bandwagon, pledging to eliminate taxes on gratuities for service workers, much like Trump proposed weeks earlier. It’s almost as if she’s auditioning for a role in the “Bizarre World of Copycat Politics.”

The Vice President, in her enthusiastic quest to win over Nevada’s hotel, restaurant, and service industry workers, made a grand promise. She vowed to empower working families by not only ending taxes on tips but also raising the minimum wage. Because, let’s be honest, when has the government ever raised wages without making something else painfully expensive in return? Harris seems to believe a mere slogan can replace the complex realities of the economy, and folks in Nevada are definitely not buying it.

Trump, ever the showman, wasn’t going to let Harris steal his thunder without a response. He took to Truth Social to air his grievances, suggesting that Harris was nothing more than a policy plagiarist with a serious lack of original ideas. The former president pointed out that the idea of no taxes on tips wasn’t conjured from thin air while Harris was sipping lattes in California. Instead, it originated from Trump’s own playbook, which he wrote back in June when he was in Nevada, laying out plans that might actually resonate with American workers.

This begs the question, how far will Harris go in an attempt to mimic Trump’s policies? If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Harris must be standing at the foot of Trump’s policy ladder, hoping to snag some of that sweet populist appeal. Will a future Harris initiative include giving senior citizens a break on Social Security taxes? If so, maybe they could start selling Harris-branded “No Tax” T-shirts featuring her latest recycled ideas.

While political copying might serve to generate some buzz, it begs a foundational concern—how genuine can any of Harris’s pledges truly be if she’s echoing them from her rival’s playbook? This isn’t just any game of “Simon Says”—it’s politics. As the 2024 election season heats up, conservatives watch with a mix of amusement and skepticism as Democrats continue to try to play catch-up. The only real question left is whether they’ll ever bring anything to the table that isn’t already on the menu courtesy of the Trump administration.
