Vice President Kamala Harris recently took to the popular airwaves to try and halt the exodus of black voters from the Democratic Party, a task that could make the Titanic look like a minor mishap. Harris’s team is reportedly sweating bullets, especially with black men aged 18 to 44 fleeing the party in droves. To add to the drama, none other than Barack Obama stepped in, presumably to give a stern talking-to to these young men who have dared to question the party’s wisdom.
During her recent chat with Charlamagne Tha God on the Breakfast Club, Harris found an interesting way to distract from her struggles. Instead of addressing concerns head-on, she chose to unleash a tirade against former President Trump, labeling him a fascist while asserting that he poses a dire threat to democracy and hardworking Americans. This tactic might remind one of a magician’s sleight of hand—look over here while the real issues simmer unattended.

Despite the media’s attempt to spin the interview into a grand performance of courage and clarity, those watching would have seen a different reality. Harris’s aides are apparently at odds with how she handles her public persona, but if her jab at Trump is indicative, it appears they want her to step up her game. However, calling Trump both “weak” and “dangerous” leaves one scratching their head. It’s almost like trying to argue that ice cream is both hot and cold at the same time. If Trump is a loser, how can he simultaneously be a master of political manipulation lurking around every corner?
As if this wasn’t enough, the topic of reparations inevitably popped up during their conversation. Harris suggested it’s something worth further study, which is a curious stance coming from a state that attempted its own reparations initiative—an effort that would have cost twice California’s entire budget. Imagine that! The government forcibly transferring wealth from one racial group to another sounds a lot like a throwback to forms of discrimination that everyone thought had been laid to rest. It’s somewhat surprising that this kind of radicalism is still finding purchase in today’s Democratic agenda.
Charlamagne also made it clear he wasn’t letting Harris off the hook regarding the disastrous state of the border and the Biden administration’s overall record. He brought up how things have gone off the rails for the first three years, a fact that Harris responded to with the classic avoidance strategy of claiming their commitment to massive amnesty from day one. It’s clear her methodology of addressing complex issues involves a lot of deflection. Instead of owning up to the reality of rampant illegal immigration and chaos at the southern border, she reached for the nearest shiny object to wave at the crowd, but it’s hard to see anyone catching that particular frisbee.
In summary, Harris’s recent performance was less about addressing the genuine concerns of constituents and more about deflecting blame and criticism. With the Democratic Party’s approval ratings taking a nosedive, the clever politicians are scrambling, and so far, Harris’s attempts are anything but convincing. If anything, she’s given black voters yet another reason to reconsider their loyalties as the red team moves forward with a renewed sense of purpose.
