Several Republicans have made waves recently with their views on abortion. Kari Lake, a Republican running for the U.S. Senate seat in Arizona, voiced her opposition to a decision by the Arizona Supreme Court to enforce a pre-Roe v. Wade law banning abortion. This announcement came after former President Donald Trump indicated he would not support a national ban on abortion.
In different states, there are upcoming votes on abortion-related measures. In Florida, a recent Ipsos poll showed that a majority of registered voters would support expanding abortion access in the state. However, the poll revealed that this majority did not reach the threshold needed to pass the measure into law.

The Ipsos poll revealed that 57 percent of registered voters in Florida would vote to approve a ballot measure in 2024 that aims to legalize abortion until fetal viability. The sentiment varied among party affiliations, with a large majority of Democrats and a significant portion of independents in favor of the measure, while the majority of registered Republican voters opposed it.
The poll also showed that more than half of Floridians opposed a national 6-week abortion ban, although there was still significant support for it among some respondents.
In terms of leadership, 34 percent of those polled expressed agreement with Republican Governor Ron DeSantis’s approach to the issue of abortion.
Currently, the Florida Supreme Court has upheld the state’s 15-week ban on abortion as constitutional, and a six-week ban is set to take effect soon.
According to reports, the group Floridians Protecting Freedom has raised nearly $20 million from abortion rights organizations for their “Yes On 4” campaign in Florida.
