Kolvet vs Owens Drama Shows Conservatives Need Discipline

Conservative media has a nasty habit of eating its own — and the latest dust-up involving Andrew Kolvet and Candace Owens proves it. A new clip has Kolvet going after Owens with the kind of theatrical fury that gets clicks, but the bigger story is what this fight says about our movement. We need clarity, not viral temper tantrums.

Why this fight matters for conservative media

Andrew Kolvet accused Candace Owens of spreading falsehoods, and the clip has people on both sides sharpening their knives. That may be great for views, but it’s lousy for conservative messaging. When our commentators publicly tear into one another, the left laughs and the undecided tune out. We should have fierce debate behind the scenes. On camera, we should show a disciplined, fact-based alternative to the chaos on the other side.

Truth should matter — but so should strategy

I’m not saying facts don’t matter. Of course they do. If a high-profile commentator gets something wrong, it should be corrected. But public haymakers and performative takedowns rarely correct the record; they amplify the drama. Conservatives should practice honest corrections without turning every correction into a gladiator match. We win when we look like an adult movement with firm answers, not a cable TV cage fight.

What conservatives should do next

First, prioritize accuracy. Second, keep accountability constructive. Third, stop treating every disagreement as an existential betrayal. Debate matters. Unity matters more when the alternative is a chaotic left that controls pop culture, big tech, and much of the media narrative. If Kolvet thinks he has a point, make it clearly and with evidence. If Owens is wrong, correct her cleanly and move on. The rest of us should stop being entertained by the meltdown.

At the end of the day, conservatives need clear messaging, not clickbait warfare. We can be both honest and strategic — and we should be. The politics of the next decade won’t be won by viral outrage alone. They’ll be won by ideas that are true, persuasive, and presented with discipline. If our side learns that lesson, we’ll be harder to beat. If not, well — enjoy the ratings, because that will be all we have left.
