Law Professor Says Judge’s Biden Donations Raise Bias Concerns in Trump Trial

A law professor from George Washington University, Jonathan Turley, said that the judge in the Trump business records trial did something wrong by donating to President Biden’s election campaign. The judge, named Merchan, also gave money to groups that were against Republicans. Turley thinks it doesn’t matter that the donations were small, and that they show support for a certain political side.

Turley talked on a show called “Fox and Friends” about his concerns. He said it’s not right that the judge was chosen for the case when he supports the president and has a daughter who works for Democrats. He believes there are plenty of other judges who could have been picked instead.

The judge’s daughter is involved in a company that helped Democrats get a lot of money after Trump was accused in a case involving a payment to a woman named Stormy Daniels. Merchan also put more restrictions in place after Trump shared a news report.

Turley thinks it’s unfair that the judge won’t face consequences for his actions and believes that this trial is being used as a weapon against Trump. Conservatives might feel worried about the judge’s ties to Democrats and question the fairness of the trial.
