The attempts by the left to paint Donald Trump as a Nazi have once again backfired spectacularly, and it’s almost as if they’re trying to shoot themselves in the foot with a howitzer. The New Republic had a full-on hissy fit after Trump suggested using immigrants’ serial numbers to bolster border enforcement. In an interview with former CBS investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson, Trump proposed an idea that is so common sense it should be written in neon lights: identifying noncitizens by their existing serial numbers to expedite a necessary immigration overhaul.
Somehow, the left managed to connect the dots between Trump’s straightforward proposal and a sinister Nazi narrative. The left seems to have a trademarked flair for the dramatic, roping in absurd comparisons at every turn. According to them, mentioning “serial numbers”—which naturally rings alarm bells by invoking the horrors of history—means Trump is somehow channeling Adolf Hitler. Yet, one only needs a quick glance at the U.S. immigration system to discover that “serial numbers,” or “A Numbers,” have long been a part of the process for noncitizens. Yes, folks, those ominous numbers already exist.
Loads of Hitler comparisons here because because Trump mentioned a “serial number” for immigrants, but the govt already issues something called an “A Number” to “aliens”
That is, they already have serial numbers

This meltdown from the left isn’t even the most entertaining part. Their claims about Trump mimicking Hitler are as ghostly and unsubstantiated as a rumor in a middle school cafeteria. Where exactly has Trump ever paralleled himself with the infamous dictator? There are no recorded instances of Trump donning a mustache or taking a history course from an NYU professor with a bizarre fixation on 20th-century dictators. The only thing that’s chilling here is watching the left strip any sense of reality from its arguments until they become a comical dystopia.
Ironically, the very essence of immigration reform is missing from the left’s outrage, which merely reflects an inability to grapple with facts. They could have saved themselves from this embarrassing row if they’d not avoided understanding the legal framework of immigration, specifically the existence of A Numbers. But here they are, preoccupied with hyperbole instead of engaging with a less-than-controversial policy that seeks to streamline America’s immigration laws. It’s almost as if the desire for headlines has become more significant than rational thought.
As much as they squawk about Trump’s comments, the left might want to rethink their strategy. After all, they might find themselves clad in their clown shoes, desperately trying to justify their flimsy arguments. Instead of actually addressing the issues and policies regarding immigration, they’d rather toss around Nazi comparisons. This strategy not only highlights their perpetual fear of Trump but also shows an utter disinterest in discussing how to fix the nation’s immigration problems in a meaningful way. Keep it up, leftists; the more you grasp at straws, the more your absurdity shines.
