The Secretary of State Shenna Bellows of Maine has caused quite the controversy with her decision to block former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot. This move has Republicans seeing red and they are ready to take her all the way to court and even to the impeachment process.

The Republican state Rep. John Andrews is leading the charge, vowing to file a request for a joint order to impeach Bellows. He’s fired up, claiming that Trump has done nothing wrong and has every right to appear on the Maine Republican Primary ballot.
Andrews isn’t holding back, calling Bellows’s ruling “partisanship” and accusing her of angling for a position in the 2026 Democrat Primary for Governor. He’s not alone in his anger, with other Maine GOP members echoing his claims and expressing their outrage. In fact, Maine House Republican leader Billy Bob Faulkingham is comparing the decision to third world dictatorships and slamming it as a “sham decision.”
Even Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) isn’t happy about it, stating that Maine voters should have the final say, not Bellows. She’s taking to social media, formerly known as Twitter, to voice her disapproval.
