In a recent interview on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) went on the attack against Attorney General Letitia James, accusing her of trying to “burn down” the justice system. Malliotakis didn’t hold back in her criticism, claiming that James is conducting “injustice” against former President Donald Trump and the New York firefighters are calling her out on it.

Malliotakis didn’t stop there. She also took aim at the New York Fire Department for their response to the recent incident where firefighters booed James and cheered for Trump during a promotion ceremony. She scoffed at a memo from the state fire department, which suggested that they were investigating and possibly reprimanding those who participated in the protest against James. According to Malliotakis, the firefighters were simply exercising their free speech rights, and she argued that James, as a polarizing figure, should not have been invited to speak at the ceremony in the first place.
The congresswoman went on to defend the firefighters, insisting that they should not face any consequences for expressing their support for Trump and disapproval of James. She made it clear that in her view, the FDNY should not retaliate against the firefighters for simply cheering for someone they like and expressing their disapproval of someone they don’t.
Malliotakis’ fiery remarks come in the wake of Attorney General Letitia James’ threat to go to court and ask a judge to seize Trump’s assets if he is unable to pay his $354 million fine. This threat from James has only added fuel to the fire in the ongoing legal battles between Trump and his political adversaries.
The feud between Malliotakis and James seems to be far from over, with both sides digging in their heels and not backing down. It remains to be seen how this clash of political titans will play out in the New York political arena, but one thing’s for sure – the sparks are flying, and the flames are only getting higher.
