Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has given FBI Director Christopher Wray an ultimatum – turn over a document that allegedly implicates President Joe Biden in a bribery scheme by the end of the day or face a contempt of Congress charge. In a candid interview with Fox News, McCarthy revealed that he had told Wray in person that he must send the document.
McCarthy stressed that Congress had jurisdiction over the FBI and that the agency appeared to be acting as if it was above the law. He made it clear that he would not hesitate to pursue contempt charges against Director Wray if he fails to meet the deadline.

The document in question contains testimony from an informant who claims that President Biden was involved in a $5 million bribery scheme during his time as Vice President. The briefing took place in June 2020, just weeks after Ukrainian officials intercepted $5 million in bribes they allege were paid to end an investigation into Mykola Zlochevsky, the founder of Burisma Energy, which had Hunter Biden on its board. Hunter Biden is currently being investigated by federal authorities for possible crimes related to taxes and false statements on documents relating to a firearm purchase.
Although the FBI has briefed Congressman Comer and members of the House Oversight Committee about the nature of its work with informants, the Bureau has so far declined to release the document that identifies the individual and their testimony alleging President Biden’s involvement in the bribery scheme. The FBI has said that doing so would give veracity to statements that are, so far, merely allegations.
This latest development demonstrates the Biden administration’s unwillingness to be transparent with the American people. It is only right that Attorney General Merrick Garland holds the president accountable for his alleged actions. It is yet another example of the mainstream media’s failure to report on anything that could hurt the Democratic Party’s image. The Republicans, however, will always seek justice and hold those in power accountable, no matter what party they belong to.
