New Caucus Takes Bold Stand Against Sharia Law Threatening America

Congressman Chip Roy has been sounding the alarm about the spread of political Islam and the influence of Sharia in the United States, and he did not mince words when he and Representative Keith Self launched the Sharia-Free America Caucus on December 18, 2025 to confront this threat head-on. For too long establishment Republicans and Democrats have papered over hard truths while the fabric of our civic order frays; Roy and Self have finally put a stake in the ground to protect the Constitution and Western values. Americans who love liberty should welcome a caucus willing to name the threat and push for real solutions.

Representative Roy has gone beyond rhetoric and introduced concrete legislation to defend our republic, unveiling the Preserving A Sharia-Free America Act in October 2025 to deny immigration benefits and admission to foreign nationals who adhere to Sharia law. This is not an attack on private worship but a commonsense stance against importing a foreign legal code that explicitly conflicts with our Bill of Rights and the equality of all under law. If our immigration system refuses to consider the ideology a person embraces, then we are naïve at best and suicidal at worst.

The caucus has not been a one-man protest; it has drawn significant House support and even welcomed House Republican leadership to its cause, proving that many in Congress understand the seriousness of the issue and are willing to act. That growing membership shows a welcome backbone among conservatives who are tired of watching elites surrender neighborhoods and cultural ground in the name of political correctness. If the GOP is to remain the party of order, sovereignty, and the rule of law, this is the kind of grit voters should expect.

Legitimate policy scrutiny has followed: House panels and committees have examined how Sharia-based practices intersect with the Constitution and our legal system, raising questions about how to protect free speech, religious freedom, and women’s rights in the face of foreign legal doctrines that would undermine them. Those hearings are necessary because the naive view that assimilation will naturally occur without strong civic expectations has failed in parts of Europe, and America must learn from mistakes abroad rather than repeat them. Political leaders who refuse to admit there is a civilizational challenge are doing a grave disservice to future generations.

Predictably, left-leaning groups and activists have labeled the caucus anti-Muslim, but conflating criticism of Sharia as a legal-political system with hatred of individual Americans is dishonest and dangerous. Organizations like the Muslim Public Affairs Council and others will scream persecution, yet no serious patriot wants to ban private faith or discriminate against law-abiding neighbors; the issue is the importation of a parallel legal order that denies equal rights under the Constitution. Republicans who defend our freedoms must be able to separate respect for individual worship from fierce opposition to any ideology that seeks to replace our laws.

Now is the time for citizens and leaders to stand with those who put principle before popularity. We should back lawful measures that tighten vetting, insist on cultural assimilation, defend the rights of women and minorities, and push back against any legal system that would hollow out American liberty. Chip Roy and the Sharia-Free America Caucus are challenging a reluctant class of elites; patriotic Americans ought to rally behind politicians who have the courage to defend our Constitution and the future of a free, united nation.
