In a stunning display of financial mismanagement, the sinking ship known as NBC’s Peacock streaming service is now on the verge of losing billions of dollars. Reports indicate that in just 90 days, the service has hemorrhaged a crippling half-billion dollars, and by the end of 2023, it could be looking at nearly $3 billion in losses. It seems that the mainstream media giants are more concerned with pushing their biased narrative than actually making sound business decisions.

Peacock’s third-quarter results for 2023 show a loss of approximately $565 million, which, believe it or not, is an improvement compared to the abysmal figures from 2022. The streaming service boasted losses of $614 million in the same period last year. It’s mind-boggling that they could consider this a positive outcome. With revenue of around $840 million, which is supposedly a 64% increase from 2022, one would think they should be able to keep their heads above water. But alas, Peacock continues to prove that no matter how much money they throw at it, they just can’t seem to attract enough viewers or properly manage their finances.

It’s no surprise that Peacock’s only saving grace seems to be its association with sports. Comcast, the parent company of NBC Universal, has touted sports as the driving force behind the streaming service’s profits. They even have the audacity to claim that Peacock has the most live sports out of any streaming platform. While it’s true that sports have a dedicated fan base, it’s a desperate attempt to use that as a lifeline for a sinking ship. It’s like putting a band-aid on a gaping wound and expecting it to magically heal.

Despite the catastrophic losses, corporate executives at Comcast seem to be living in a fantasy world. They express their satisfaction with the progress made since pivoting their streaming strategy, conveniently ignoring the fact that the losses continue to escalate. It’s a classic case of denial and delusion. Perhaps they should spend less time patting themselves on the back and more time trying to salvage what’s left of their sinking empire.

In a last-ditch effort to squeeze more money out of desperate consumers, Peacock recently hiked its subscription rates. They have the audacity to charge $5.99 per month for ad-supported content and a whopping $11.99 per month for ad-free streaming. It’s clear that they’re exploiting their dwindling customer base to make up for their incompetence. The nerve of these media giants is truly astonishing.

The demise of Peacock is just another reminder of how the mainstream media’s obsession with shaping the narrative has blinded them to basic business principles. They are losing billions of dollars while continuing to push their biased agenda. It’s a clear indication that their priorities are completely out of whack. It’s time for consumers to wise up and reject the propaganda machine that the mainstream media has become.
