Poll Shows Voters Favor Trump Over Biden on Key Issues Ahead of 2024

A new poll from ABC News/Ipsos shows that voters have more confidence in former President Donald Trump than current President Joe Biden to handle important issues leading up to the 2024 election. The poll reveals that Trump is leading Biden in three crucial topics: the economy, inflation, and crime safety.

The upcoming presidential election is just six months away, scheduled for Nov. 5, and it is expected that Trump will again run against Biden, as he is the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party. The survey found that 46% of voters are planning to vote for Trump, while 44% are in favor of Biden. Additionally, 46% of registered voters are planning to vote for Biden, slightly ahead of the 45% supporting Trump.

Apart from the economy, inflation, and crime, voters also express more trust in Trump regarding immigration along the southern border, gun violence, the country’s standing in the world, and the conflict between Israel and the Hamas terrorist group. Meanwhile, Biden is seen as more trustworthy than Trump on healthcare and abortion access, although the latter was listed as only the ninth most important topic in the survey.

Regarding legal challenges facing Trump, the poll found that an overwhelming 80% of respondents would still vote for him if he were convicted of criminal charges. Only 16% said they would reconsider their support, and 4% indicated they would withdraw their backing.

The poll, which was conducted among 2,260 respondents from April 25 through April 30, revealed that 31% identified as Democrats, 29% as Republicans, and 28% as Independents. The margin of error for the data was 2%.
