The latest attempt by Senate RINOs to kneecap President Trump’s Anti-Weaponization Fund is a disgraceful display of political cowardice. Conservatives who swept the House and Senate expected our leaders to stand with law-abiding Americans, not play footsie with partisan Washington insiders who would rather protect the swamp than the victims of it. The time for weak tea and backroom deals is over; hardworking patriots deserve leaders who will fight, not sabotage.
The Anti-Weaponization Fund is a concrete, commonsense response to years of weaponized prosecutions and political lawfare, built from a $1.776 billion settlement tied to the Trump administration’s dispute with the IRS and funded through the longstanding Judgment Fund. This fund establishes a process to hear claims from people who were targeted by politicized enforcement — something the media and the left refuse to acknowledge even as they cheer on bureaucratic abuses.
Predictably, the swamp has pushed back, and the rule of law is now being litigated in a way that could indefinitely delay relief for victims. A federal judge recently issued a temporary injunction blocking the formation and payouts of the fund and set a hearing for June 12 to consider the challenges, pausing any transfers or disbursements for now.
Even worse, some Republican senators have blinked — balking at the fund and using it as cover to delay key conservative priorities like border and ICE funding. These so-called conservatives are playing right into the Democrats’ hands by letting process be an excuse for paralysis, and their cowardice risks betraying everyone who’s been harmed by weaponized government power.
Make no mistake: the fund will be administered by a five-member commission chosen by the Justice Department, with limited judicial review and serious questions about transparency and standards raised even by critics. That structure is necessary to cut through politicized court fights and provide real restitution to victims — but it also means the fight will be messy and the left will scream every time conservatives try to actually deliver justice.
This is why conservatives cannot afford to be timid. When Republicans in the Senate fold at the first sign of blowback, they hand Democrats a victory and leave ordinary Americans to suffer under the very abuses the fund is meant to deter. Loyalty to conservative principles means defending mechanisms that hold the federal bureaucracy accountable, not letting establishment types dictate the terms of our recovery.
President Trump and his allies must push back hard and publicly against any RINO sabotage. Grassroots activists, donors, and rank-and-file Republicans should make clear that there will be consequences for senators who put their careers ahead of conservative reform; primary challenges and spirited opposition should be the default response to backstabbers in the GOP.
This is a fight about power, accountability, and the future of our republic. Patriots must rally behind policies that protect citizens from weaponized government, and we must make Washington pay if it chooses the side of the bureaucracy over the people. The choice is stark: defend the rule of law and victims of lawfare, or let the swamp rewrite the rules again.
