After months of speculation and finger-pointing, the Senate finally voted unanimously Wednesday night to pass the “COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023” which Republican Sens. Josh Hawley and Mike Braun had proposed. The bill requires the Director of National Intelligence, Avril Haines, to declassify all intelligence concerning the origin of COVID-19 within 90 days.

The Energy Department and FBI Director Christopher Wray both concluded this week that the pandemic most likely came from a lab leak in Wuhan, China. Wray went so far as to say in a Tuesday interview with Fox News that “Here, you’re talking about a possible leak from a lab run by the Chinese government.”
The Senate legislation mandates that Haines should furnish the public with maximum available data about the emergence of COVID-19, encompassing the operations conducted by the Wuhan Institute of Virology, pre-outbreak coronavirus investigations, and particulars about scientists at the laboratory who experienced sickness during the fall of 2019.
It’s about time that the truth comes out and the American people are allowed to decide for themselves what really happened. The Chinese government has been lying and covering up the truth for too long, and it’s high time that we finally get some answers. It’s a shame that it took a global pandemic for us to realize how little we can trust the Chinese government and how much they have been hiding from us.
It’s also important to note that this bill was introduced by two conservative Republican senators, Josh Hawley and Mike Braun. They have been fighting for the truth since day one and have been relentless in their pursuit of justice. It’s great to see that even in a divided political climate, both sides of the aisle can come together to do what’s right for the American people.
The Director of National Intelligence did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but it’s clear that this bill is a step in the right direction. It’s time for us to finally get to the bottom of this pandemic and find out what really happened. It’s time for us to hold China accountable for their actions and make sure that something like this never happens again.
