Senator Chris Coons defended President Biden’s handling of Israel amid its conflict with Hamas. On ABC’s “This Week,” Senator Coons disagreed with Senator Chris Van Hollen and said that President Biden has taken strong action regarding the situation. He mentioned that past American presidents have also dealt with similar issues when their close allies weren’t receptive to private warnings.
The Biden administration released a State Department report saying it’s “reasonable to assess” that Israel has used U.S. weapons in a way that may violate international humanitarian law. Senator Coons addressed criticism of the president’s approach, stating that President Biden has consistently urged the Israeli government to take appropriate action and has made public the potential consequences of their actions.

Senator Coons emphasized that Congress will closely monitor the actions taken by Prime Minister Netanyahu.
