The Big EV Lie: Are You Really Going Green?

If you drive an electric vehicle (EV), congratulations! You're saving the planet, right? Well, not so fast. The truth is, if you're plugging your shiny new Tesla into a grid that's powered by coal, oil, or natural gas, you're not the eco-hero you think you are.

Let's face it, the left has been pushing electric vehicles as the solution to all our environmental woes. But if EV owners are charging their cars using anything other than wind or solar power, it's just smoke and mirrors. It's about time we put our money where our mouth is.

Charging EVs with fossil fuels is like going to an all-you-can-eat buffet and pretending the calories don’t count. The electricity grid in many parts of the country is still heavily reliant on fossil fuels. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, in 2022, about 60% of our electricity was generated from fossil fuels. So, unless EV owners are exclusively using renewable energy sources, they might as well be driving a gas-guzzling SUV.

Sure, driving an EV can reduce tailpipe emissions, but if the electricity comes from coal-fired plants, those emissions are just being shifted from one place to another. Wind and solar power are genuinely renewable and clean, but they still only account for a fraction of our total energy production.

Here's an idea: let’s make it mandatory for all EV owners to charge their vehicles using only wind or solar power. No more virtue signaling while still relying on dirty energy. If you're serious about saving the planet, put up solar panels on your roof or invest in a wind turbine. Otherwise, it's just pretend.

We’re constantly told that we need to make sacrifices for the environment. Well, it’s time for the EV crowd to step up. They wanted the electric cars, now let them power them the right way.
