According to a recent poll of probable voters in North Carolina, former President Donald Trump is ahead of President Joe Biden, with 51% of likely voters backing Trump and 43% supporting Biden. Rasmussen Reports and NumbersUSA conducted the survey, which included 1,053 likely voters in the state. The survey has a margin of sampling error of +/- 3% and a confidence level of 95%.
North Carolina has a strong history of supporting Republican candidates for the past 60 years, and Trump’s lead over Biden in the poll comes as no surprise. During the election season, Trump has maintained a steady lead over the incumbent president in statewide polls. North Carolina is seen as a pivotal or contested state in the upcoming election, with 15 electoral college votes at stake.

The survey additionally revealed that most respondents favored tougher immigration enforcement, with 81% expressing the opinion that every state should utilize all available resources to address illegal immigration.
Additionally, 76% of respondents favored a program that would help state and local law enforcement partner with federal immigration authorities to capture, detain, hold, and deport criminals who have entered or are living in the country illegally.
Andrew Good, State Government Relations Director for NumbersUSA, underscored the importance of the state legislature and Governor Roy Cooper ensuring that North Carolina employers hire only those workers authorized to work in the state. The survey also revealed that 75% of respondents believe that all employers should use E-Verify to ensure that legal workers are hired, and 69% agreed that companies not using it should lose their business licenses.
In addition to the presidential election preferences, the survey also showed that 46% of respondents approved of the job done by President Biden, while 53% disapproved. In contrast, half of the respondents indicated that if their state representative opposed a bill requiring E-Verify, they would be less inclined to support them in the future.
It’s important to note that Rasmussen Reports, the organization that conducted the survey, does not have a rating of 538, a consensus credible rater of polling operations. Nevertheless, the survey obtained a transparency score of 3.1.
