Trump Praises JD Vance as Fantastic Running Mate Despite Legal Challenges

In a surprise twist that no one really saw coming—except, perhaps, those paying marginal attention—former President Donald Trump has offered glowing compliments for Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, labeling him as a “fantastic” running mate. Now, before anyone gets too excited, it’s worth noting that there’s a mountain of legal hurdles to jump if Trump were ever to rethink this pairing. Spoiler alert: it’s not ideal.

Trying to ditch Vance would require navigating an obstacle course tougher than a high school gym class. According to legal whiz Joyce Vance (unrelated, but adding some confusion), Trump could only replace Vance by either calling back the GOP convention for a do-over or wrangling three delegates from each state to cast their votes for Vance’s ousting. As if that weren’t enough of a headache, those pesky state ballots are already filled out and ready to roll, making any replacement a borderline Herculean task.

In what seems to be a recurring trend in politics, left-leaning media outlets are painting Sen. Vance as some sort of liability for Trump’s campaign. Meanwhile, they conveniently choose to overlook the somewhat dismal history of his Democratic rival’s background. For instance, Minnesota’s own Tim Walz finds himself in hot water after a 1995 DUI incident, where he decided that 96 miles per hour in a 55 zone was a perfectly acceptable speed—probably in a rush to secure an overpriced latte.

Adding a bizarre twist to this narrative, Walz’s campaign manager has tried to claim that his DUI was a result of him not hearing the officer’s commands due to alleged hearing damage from his military service. Sure, that makes as much sense as a screen door on a submarine. The judge decided to throw out the charges and admonish the officer. Still, court transcripts apparently have a different story to tell—one that seems to have slipped through the cracks in the liberal mainstream narratives.

It seems like there will never be a dull moment in the world of Minnesota governance. Following the riots in 2020 that led to multiple tragic deaths—including the shocking and horrific case of a man who was tragically burned alive—Walz’s wife, First Lady Gwen Walz, had some rather off-putting remarks. During a televised interview, she waxed poetic about the scent of burning tires, describing it as a “touchstone” moment for the chaos engulfing the state. One has to wonder if that’s what they teach in First Lady 101: How to be completely detached during a crisis.
