Trump Scoffs at VP Role, Deems it Non-Decisive in Election Outcome

Former President Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, expressed his belief that the vice presidential pick does not have much impact on the election outcome. In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Trump explained that voters are primarily concerned with electing the president, not the vice president. He pointed out that throughout history, no vice president has significantly influenced the nomination or winning of an election.

Although Trump did not disclose his potential vice presidential pick or a specific timeline for his decision, he acknowledged that there are many qualified individuals within the Republican Party. He emphasized the importance of winning the election, stating that the future of the country is at stake.

Trump also dismissed the notion that former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley would be a strategic choice to win over women and moderate voters. Donor-class establishment figures have been pressuring Trump to consider Haley, but he does not seem convinced. The fact that Trump has been ramping up his attacks on Haley, referring to her as “Birdbrain,” suggests that her chances are not looking favorable.

Other possible contenders for the vice presidential nod include South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, Senator J.D. Vance, Representative Elise Stefanik, Representative Byron Donalds, Senator Marsha Blackburn, and Senator Tim Scott, among others. With the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary approaching, Trump has the opportunity to solidify his nomination in the coming weeks. If he secures the nomination early, the conversation about his running mate selection is likely to gain momentum. However, if the nomination battle extends into March, the discussion may become more prolonged and intense.
