Former President Donald Trump has been escalating his attacks on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in recent weeks, as polls have suggested that DeSantis could pose a formidable challenge to Trump should he decide to run for president again. Trump has publicly criticized DeSantis as a “RINO” and “globalist” who imposed covid lockdowns on Florida residents, and even went so far as to amplify a photo of DeSantis allegedly partying with underage girls. Trump has also taken to calling DeSantis “DeSanctimonious” in public, and reportedly calls him “meatball Ron” in private, an allegation Trump denies.
In response to the increased criticism, the New York Post published a profile about DeSantis on Saturday, featuring details about the governor’s blue-collar upbringing and his undergraduate experience at Yale University. The article discussed DeSantis’ proposal to move key government agencies out of Washington, D.C., in order to reduce the power of the administrative state, as well as his upcoming memoir, “The Courage to Be Free.”
Trump Labels New York Post 'Fake News' For 'Puff Piece' About DeSantis https://t.co/PL8AsXgp1N

In response to the profile, Trump took to Truth Social to call out the New York Post for what he called a “puff piece” about DeSantis. Trump accused the Post of not mentioning that DeSantis wants to cut Social Security and Medicare, loves losers like Jeb Bush, Paul Ryan, and Karl Rove, and is getting “clobbered in the polls” by him. He also claimed that the Post has become “fake news, just like Fox & WSJ!”
Despite the criticism from Trump, DeSantis remains confident in his record and accomplishments as governor of Florida. In an interview with the Post, DeSantis discussed his blue collar childhood in Dunedin, Florida, and how he worked part time jobs to pay his way through Yale University. He also discussed his key policy achievements as governor, which will be featured in his upcoming memoir.
It is clear that DeSantis is not letting the criticism from Trump affect his confidence in himself or his record as governor of Florida. Despite Trump’s attempts to discredit him, DeSantis is standing firm in his beliefs and is continuing to make progress on his agenda. It remains to be seen whether or not Trump will be successful in his attempts to discredit DeSantis and prevent him from becoming a formidable challenger for the GOP nomination.
