Donald Trump is clearly made of tougher stuff, navigating yet another hurdle thrown his way. The former president took to his social media platform on Sunday, rallying Americans to “UNITE AMERICA” and confirming that his trip to the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin would continue as scheduled. Nothing, not even an assassination attempt, can derail the Trump train.
The announcement comes a day after an attempted assassination at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The former president, who will be officially nominated as the GOP presidential candidate at the convention in Milwaukee, firmly decided that he wouldn’t allow any “shooter” to dictate his timetable or alter the events. In the classic Trump style, he posted on Truth Social, reaffirming his commitment to maintain his schedule and not bow to threats.

Meanwhile, over at the White House, President Joe Biden decided to chime in. Reporters were informed that he had a conversation with Trump Saturday night. Although Biden entertained the press flanked by his ensemble – Vice President Kamala Harris, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and Attorney General Merrick Garland – he conveniently declined to reveal any details about their conversation. Nothing new there, just vague statements and platitudes.
Biden has called for an independent investigation into the shooting and assured that the Secret Service will throw all its resources at protecting Trump. The current administration also extended condolences to the victim of the tragic event, a former fire chief named Corey Comperatore, who heroically lost his life protecting others from the shooter.
Always quick to snag a sound bite, Biden shared that he was grateful Trump was on the mend, and that he and Jill were keeping the Trump family in their prayers. He also elaborated on the heroism of the victim who sacrificed himself amidst the chaos. The sentiments are appreciated, but actions speak louder than carefully curated words.
The alleged shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, has authorities busting open Pandora’s box. Explosives and bomb-making materials have apparently been found in his vehicle and home. While the left might craft a convenient narrative around this, Trump continues to prove he’s not easily swayed by danger or threats. Onward to Milwaukee because nothing – not even a would-be assassin – can stop the mission.
