Warnock Preaches Partisan Gospel on CNN, Bash Enamored

Senator Raphael Warnock, the reverend turned politician, has found himself a cozy spot on CNN’s “State of the Union,” where he’s been blasting Republicans and their legitimate concerns with the finesse of a seasoned preacher. The Georgia Democrat recently used his pulpit to condemn Republicans for their opposition to a border bill, and this time, he was back to discuss religious matters, including President Joe Biden’s “Transgender Day of Visibility” proclamation. Host Dana Bash, seemingly smitten with Warnock, asked him softball questions that allowed him to spew his partisan rhetoric without challenge.

Warnock didn’t miss a beat, shamelessly taking jabs at former President Donald Trump for selling Bibles during Holy Week and accusing Republicans of being hostile to the poor in the name of faith. He even had the audacity to claim that the separation of church and state—designed to protect religion—was one of the tenets of his country that he loved. Talk about hypocrisy!

But wait, there’s more! Warnock, with Bash’s enthusiastic backing, also launched into a tirade against Republicans for daring to criticize President Biden’s proclamation on a religious holiday. He accused Speaker Mike Johnson of finding transgender people abhorrent, completely dismissing valid concerns about politicizing Easter.

And just when you thought Warnock was done, he turned to sermonizing about how his faith guides his work as a senator, conveniently leaving out his pro-abortion stance. It’s clear that his interpretation of the Christian faith conveniently aligns with Democratic talking points, except when it comes to the unborn.

Bash’s one-sided handling of the segment and her failure to address any opposing viewpoints make it apparent that she’s towing the Democratic Party line. Instead of providing balanced coverage, she and Warnock used the platform to push a partisan agenda, while conveniently sidestepping any difficult questions about the proclamation and the broader implications of mixing religion and politics.

With the White House downplaying and dismissing valid concerns, it’s clear that the segment on “State of the Union” was nothing more than a thinly veiled partisan spectacle. It’s time to call out this biased coverage for what it is and demand accountability from those who claim to be objective journalists.
