The recent ruling specifically addressed the use of concertina wire by Texas National Guard personnel in response to the surge of illegal border crossers. The border situation has escalated to the point where Texas law enforcement and National Guard personnel had to take control of Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, a public park that had become a hotspot for large illegal crossings. As part of “Operation Lonestar,” Governor Abbott went as far as signing a new law to allow Texas officials to arrest and deport illegal aliens through local courts, defiantly opposing the Biden administration’s “catch and release” policy that has only exacerbated the influx of illegal aliens.
The record numbers of illegal aliens crossing the southern border in 2022 and 2023, with an average surge of 10,000 illegals entering per day, have clearly demonstrated the severity of the crisis. Abbott’s unwavering stance against federal intervention in Texas’ border security efforts has become a beacon of hope for those who believe in upholding national sovereignty and addressing the border crisis with the seriousness it deserves.
Amid accusations from the Biden administration that Texas was complicit in recent drownings in the Rio Grande River, the governor has stood firm, citing Mexican government reports that had forewarned the administration about the drownings.
