Age Rage: White House Fumes at NYT’s Biden Coverage!

The White House is apparently not too happy with The New York Times for their recent coverage of President Joe Biden’s age. The White House let it be known that they are “extremely upset” about the Times’ focus on Biden’s advanced years. New York Times publisher A.G. Sulzberger revealed this tidbit during a chat with the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism. However, Sulzberger made it clear that the Times will persist in delivering nonpartisan coverage of both presidential candidates. Sulzberger boldly stated, “We are going to continue to report fully and fairly, not just on Donald Trump but also on President Joe Biden.” Wow!

New York Times’ A.G. Sulzberger didn’t stop there. He stressed that the Times does not approach Biden’s age with the same level of apprehension as they did with former President Donald Trump’s “five court cases.” Sulzberger remarked, “We are not saying that this is the same as Trump’s five court cases or that they are even. They are different. But they are both true, and the public needs to know both those things. And if you are hyping up one side or downplaying the other, no side has a reason to trust you in the long run.” Hard to argue with that logic!

The concerns about President Biden’s age escalated into the mainstream with the unveiling of special counsel Robert Hur’s report revealing the president’s cognitive decline, which had an impact on his memory. Hur even used this as a basis for not recommending prosecution for “willfully” retaining classified documents. As Breitbart News shared, “The report says the investigation ‘uncovered evidence that President Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen’ but does not establish guilt ‘beyond a reasonable doubt.'” Quite the bombshell!

According to Hur’s report, Biden’s “significantly limited” memory factored into his decision not to pursue prosecution. The report also suggested, “It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him — by then a former president well into his eighties — of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.” The report was filled with examples and assessments of Biden’s mental faculties and memory deteriorating. It even shockingly stated, “He did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died.” Unbelievable!

Not to mention, a recent ABC News/Ipsos poll showed that a majority of Americans believe Biden is now too old to serve another term. To add to the drama, sources confirmed to ABC News and The New York Times that Biden’s attorneys Ed Siskel and Bob Bauer wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland, griping that details in the report about the president’s recollections openly defied department policy and practice. It’s heating up!

In response to the release of Hur’s report, Siskel and Bauer disagreed with a senior Justice Department official’s assessment that the comments in the report were consistent with department policy and practice. They were not afraid to push back! The drama continues to unfold, and everyone is hanging on the edge of their seats to see what will happen next.
