Taking care of America’s veterans used to be a top priority, but not if you ask those in the Biden administration. It seems they have a soft spot for illegal immigrants and wokeness above all else. The latest example of Biden’s team’s sheer incompetence comes from Assistant Under Secretary for Health Operations RimaAnn Nelson. She decided to ban the iconic WWII photo of a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square from VA healthcare facilities, citing it as promoting domestic violence. What a load of baloney! Thankfully, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Dennis McDonough had the sense to overturn this absurd decision. It’s about time someone in the administration showed some respect for our history and heroes.
Except under Trump, the VA has had a long past history of failing to take care of Vets.

But this ridiculous photo ban is not RimaAnn Nelson’s first rodeo in the incompetence arena. During her time as the acting director of John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis, nearly 1,800 veterans were exposed to diseases due to improper sterilization practices. Let that sink in – our brave veterans put at risk because of sheer negligence. And if that wasn’t enough, surgeries had to be halted because rusty surgical trays were being used. How does someone like Nelson even get the position to oversee veterans’ health after such a colossal failure? It’s a true testament to the Biden administration’s lack of regard for those who served our country.
Despite her track record of endangering veterans’ lives, RimaAnn Nelson was still appointed to head the Phoenix VA Medical Center in Arizona. Surprise, surprise – the facility quickly earned the title of the worst in the country. Seems like promoting incompetence is a specialty of the Biden administration. Calls for Nelson’s firing from Sen. Steve Daines and Rep. Ryan Zinke fell on deaf ears, with Secretary McDonough choosing to keep her around. What a slap in the face to our veterans who deserve competent and caring leadership, not someone with a history of putting their lives in danger.
As Nelson continues to push papers in Washington D.C., it’s a relief that she’s not directly responsible for veterans’ well-being. But the fact that she’s still employed by the VA is a disgrace. Let this be a warning to all VA facilities – keep an eye out for incompetence walking through the door. The Biden administration’s priorities are crystal clear, and unfortunately, our veterans seem to be at the bottom of the list. It’s time for real change and respect for those who sacrificed so much for our country.
