In a stunning move that defies the Supreme Court’s decision, the Biden administration has approved an additional $9 billion in student debt relief just days after requiring borrowers to start making payments again. It seems like President Biden just can’t take no for an answer when it comes to his radical agenda.
Biden, in his typical grandiose fashion, claims that this debt relief will be life-changing for individuals and families. But let’s call a spade a spade, shall we? All this does is create a culture of dependency and undermine personal responsibility. Instead of encouraging hard work and fiscal discipline, President Biden is rewarding reckless behavior and bad financial choices.
The breakdown of where this massive amount of money will go is truly mind-boggling. Over $5 billion will go to 53,000 borrowers who have been working in public service for a decade or more. Shouldn’t these individuals have planned ahead and managed their finances responsibly? It’s not fair to expect hardworking taxpayers to foot the bill for their poor decisions.
Another $2.8 billion will be forgiven for 51,000 borrowers enrolled in income-driven repayment plans. Here we go again, rewarding those who refuse to take responsibility for their financial obligations. Why should the rest of us have to tighten our belts and sacrifice when others are getting a free pass?
And let’s not forget the $1.2 billion that will go to 22,000 borrowers with disabilities. While it’s important to support those facing challenges, we must also consider the fairness of burdening the American people even further. There are other ways to help those in need without burdening future generations with insurmountable debt.
Of course, the Biden administration sees this as a political win. Experts predict that this move will boost Biden’s chances of reelection. But is it really worth it? By pandering to a select group of voters, Biden is sacrificing the economic stability of our nation. It’s a shortsighted and irresponsible decision that only serves his own political interests.
Let’s not forget that the Supreme Court already struck down Biden’s original plan to cancel student loan debt earlier this year. They recognized that the scope of the plan exceeded what was outlined in the 2003 HEROES Act. But apparently, Biden thinks he can just bypass the highest court in the land and do whatever he pleases.
As if Biden’s low approval numbers weren’t enough cause for concern, he now plans to cancel even more student debt as the 2024 election approaches. It’s a calculated move meant to drum up support among certain voting blocs. But at what cost? Our nation cannot sustain this level of reckless spending and government overreach.
It’s time for the American people to wake up and see through Biden’s empty promises. We need a leader who will prioritize fiscal responsibility and individual freedom, not someone who hands out taxpayer dollars like candy on Halloween. The future of our country depends on it.
