Biden Snubs New Hampshire, Rallies for Abortion Rights in Virginia

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris made their way to Manassas, Virginia to rally in support of abortion rights, while folks in New Hampshire were doing their thing in the unofficial first Democratic primary of 2024. The President’s not on the ballot in New Hampshire because they decided they wanted to shake things up and elevate South Carolina to first-in-the-nation status. But that hasn’t stopped the President’s supporters from launching a write-in campaign to secure victory for him. It’s like, come on, even though he hasn’t been in the Granite State, he’s still got a shot, right?

The dynamic duo, along with first lady Jill Biden and second gentleman Doug Emhoff, gathered for their first joint rally of the year at George Mason University. They were all about emphasizing the importance of abortion rights on the federal level and warning people about the scary threats that former President Donald Trump poses to women’s reproductive freedom and other civil liberties. Emhoff, who’s really popular with the people, and the first lady kicked things off by talking about the unfairness of women having fewer rights than they did years ago.

Then, Harris hit the stage, making sure everyone knows that Biden is their guy, their knight in shining armor, fighting for those fundamental freedoms like the right to make decisions about your own body. She didn’t hold back in calling out those extremists trying to take away women’s rights. She’s not having it, and neither is anyone else in the Biden camp.

Finally, Biden stepped up and even introduced himself as “Jill Biden’s husband.” Classic move. He wasn’t going to let a little interruption from pro-Palestinian protesters throw him off his game. Nope, he kept on keepin’ on, firing shots at Trump and the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Talk about standing your ground!

Here’s the thing, though: the gang didn’t even mention the New Hampshire primary. That’s right, they were like, “New Hampshire who?” Because Biden wanted to show South Carolina some love for helping him out in the 2020 election. And really, he just wanted a state that better represents the beautiful tapestry of America. Which honestly, fair enough!

But, there are a couple of Democrats like Rep. Dean Phillips and author Marianne Williamson who are all, “Hold up, why so much love for Joe in South Carolina?” They’re making some noise and asking voters to really consider what’s going on. They’re not sold on this whole “coronation” vibe, and they’re not afraid to show it.

The White House press secretary didn’t give anything away when asked about Biden’s decision to rally in Virginia instead of New Hampshire. She played it cool, talking about the importance of reproductive healthcare and the devastating effects of overturning Roe v. Wade. She’s got her eyes on the prize, staying focused on delivering for the American people.

So, while New Hampshire was doing its thing, Biden and Harris were out in Virginia, making sure everyone knows what they’re all about. And hey, with or without New Hampshire, they’ve got their sights set on securing another victory.
