Chicago Mayor Rejects Pro-Palestinian Protest at DNC Over Safety Concerns

A pack of pro-Palestinian protesters is pestering Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson to let them hold their stunt “within sight and sound” of the city’s convention center this summer. The whiners want to make a ruckus during the Democratic National Convention in August, but the city shot them down due to safety and traffic worries.

The rabble-rousers claimed in a letter that there’s a “genocide in Gaza” and they painted a picture of US-backed Israeli forces massacring Palestinians left and right. They demanded a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and took a jab at President Joe Biden’s support for Israel, apparently thinking it’d get under his skin.

The protesters jawed about having the right to gather and yap about Palestine, but the city recommended they take their ruckus three miles away at Grant Park instead. Despite being told to scram, these protesters are still up in arms and said they’d march with or without permission. Real mature, folks.

And would you believe they got over 600 people to bark at the mayor and demand he greenlight their little demonstration? They even gave him a deadline to respond to their grousing. Talk about chutzpah!

The city council already passed a resolution calling for a ceasefire, but these folks just can’t take no for an answer. They’re acting like a bunch of tenacious toddlers who won’t stop whining until they get what they want.

If these protesters really want to make a difference, they should put their energy into something more productive than throwing a tantrum in the streets. But, then again, that might mean putting in some actual effort, and we can’t have that now, can we?
