Once again, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is engaging in the harassment and intimidation of Chinese dissidents who are residing in the United States. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed on Monday that it has unsealed two criminal complaints against 44 Chinese agents for their purported involvement in these actions. The DOJ claims that a group of over 40 Chinese Ministry of Public Security members, along with two members of the Cyberspace Administration of China, used fake social media accounts to curtail the free speech rights of Chinese citizens living in the U.S. and also produced discriminatory content such as articles and videos that targeted both Chinese dissidents and the U.S. Government.

“This affront to our democratic principles and fundamental human rights exemplifies the lengths to which the CCP will go to suppress and harass American citizens who exercise their fundamental rights to speak out against PRC oppression.,” said Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen of the DOJ’s National Security Division. “These actions are illegal and go against everything Americans stand for.”

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is striving to honor the memory of the 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre, but is doing so by censoring the political speeches of dissidents who oppose their extreme beliefs. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has modified a prior complaint to encompass an additional 10 individuals who are accused of participating in a conspiracy to censor the political speech of dissidents.
Regrettably, U.S. Attorney Breon Peace has disqualified himself from involvement in this case, stating that his previous work in private practice has created a conflict of interest. The specifics of this conflict have not been immediately revealed, but it is disheartening to witness a public official prioritize their personal interests over upholding justice. As per the DOJ, all of the individuals accused in the complaints are still at large.
The CCP is becoming more and more brazen in their attacks on freedom of speech and basic human rights, and it’s time for the United States to take a stand. The Biden administration must put a stop to the CCP’s ugly attempts to suppress democracy and basic human rights. We cannot let this communist regime continue to operate in our country without facing the appropriate consequences.
