Michigan lawmakers had a clear choice: Stand with kids or stubbornly cling to the radical party line. Yet, Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee chose the latter, turning their backs when it really mattered. The bill on the table was simple—keep registered sex offenders out of jobs where they have direct access to children. That means no teaching dance classes, no working at summer camps, no lurking in youth sports leagues. This is common sense. It’s the kind of law every parent wants, regardless of party, age, or background.
But not if you’re a Democrat these days. Every single Democrat on that committee voted against this basic protection for children. That’s not a “social justice” move. That’s not “tolerance.” That’s reckless endangerment, plain and simple. Of course, these are the same liberals who spend all day shrieking about so-called “Republican pedophile protectors”—while quietly voting to shield actual child predators from consequences.

Let’s not forget what’s happening across the country. Democrats keep bending over backward for criminals—legal or illegal. In Virginia, they let an illegal immigrant who sexually assaulted multiple girls waltz out of jail after just a few months. In Nebraska, a man accused of chasing tween girls and terrorizing families barely saw the inside of a cell before he was released on bond. Once again, Democrats side with criminals instead of protecting American children.
Liberals claim employers can just “screen” for sex offenders anyway, as if that’s a guarantee. But everyone knows there are loopholes, oversights, and bad actors. Sometimes, it just takes one missed background check for something terrible to happen. So why on earth would anyone vote against closing this loophole? The answer is obvious: Democrats care more about virtue signaling and petty opposition to Republicans than they do about real, everyday safety.
Thankfully, Republicans hold the majority. This bill will pass. But it’s telling that not a single Democrat was willing to break ranks and stand up for kids. That’s the modern Democratic Party for you—always finding strange, dangerous new ways to be on the wrong side of decency. If they can’t even protect children from sex predators, what business do they have running anything in America?
