After a summer’s pause, Elon Musk has returned to the world of politics, this time attacking President Joe Biden. In a recent interview with CNBC at his Tesla production factory in Austin, the Tesla founder expressed his disappointment with the 46th president and his administration, comparing their level of executive ability to that of “people picked at random from the phone book”. Musk went on to explain that the president’s ability to lead effectively and execute decisions is what matters most in a commander-in-chief, not their particular moral beliefs or political platform.

The billionaire entrepreneur and self-described center-right contrarian has also criticized figures on both sides of the political aisle in the past, including the former President Donald Trump, whom he claims created too much “drama”.
Musk’s comments show that there is still a significant fraction of the American population that is dissatisfied with the Biden administration, particularly with its lack of strong leadership and policy implementation. Many feel that President Biden is just coasting and that he does not have the ability to enact real change for the country, especially in the midst of a pandemic and economic downturn.
At the same time, Musk also touched on the issue of misinformation on social media, suggesting that Twitter’s new “community notes” feature allows for the correction of errors and false information that can be circulated widely on the platform before being noticed.
It’s clear that Musk’s politically conservative views shape his opinions on the 46th President and American politics. We can only hope that President Biden takes the constructive criticism into account and will start to focus more on effective leadership to help move the country forward.
