Former Michigan State University professor Amy Wisner is being sued by two of her students for forcing them to fund a political group that goes against their religious beliefs. According to the students, they were required to join a group called The Rebellion Community for the spring semester of 2023.
Last week, a lawsuit was filed against Wisner, who is accused of using the money she received from her students to support groups that are against the students' anti-abortion beliefs, such as Planned Parenthood.

According to the two men, they weren't given a choice but had to pay for the privilege of accessing a private portal. They claim that the fee was unnecessary as the university already had an online platform that students could use for free.
Although she claimed that the group's membership fees were used to fund guest speakers and technology, it was later revealed that she was the group's creator and controller. She also used the funds for her political activities, including supporting groups such as Planned Parenthood.
It is outrageous that instructors at universities force their pupils to support politically-oriented groups that go against their principles. These students are merely pursuing business degrees, and they should not be expected to contribute to organizations that go against their convictions.
In addition, she used the funds for her personal use, including purchasing an RV with the money she received from her students' membership fees. She planned on taking her children and pets on a cross-country road trip.
It is admirable that the university decided to place Wisner on administrative leave while it investigates her actions and the complaints against her. It is also important to note that there are organizations such as Alliance Defense Freedom that prevent professors from using their positions of authority to force their political opinions on students. These individuals have the right to voice out against this injustice.
