In a move that has been seen as a desperate attempt to deflect criticism, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has accused Texas Republican Rep. Lance Gooden of being “racist” and “xenophobic” for suggesting that a Democratic member of Congress has ties to China’s government. This accusation comes after Gooden wrote a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray asking him to look into Dominic Ng, who was appointed by President Joe Biden to represent the U.S. at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). Gooden and his fellow Republican lawmakers alleged that California Rep. Judy Chu lobbied the president to appoint Ng, something they said deserves to be investigated.

Clinton’s accusations of racism and xenophobia have been echoed by other left-leaning Democratic members of Congress who released a statement saying, “No Chinese Americans—indeed no Americans—should face suspicions of disloyalty or treason based on their ethnicity, nation of origin, or that of their family members. That kind of profiling is beneath us all, particularly those entrusted with public office.”
However, Gooden is standing by his accusations and is making no apologies for his comments. He has stated that he is “standing up to Communist China” and that he questions Chu’s loyalty or competence. Gooden has also expressed his disappointment and shock that someone like Chu would have a security clearance and be entitled to confidential intelligence briefings until this issue is resolved.
It is clear that the Democratic Party is attempting to use the race card to deflect criticism from their own members. This tactic is nothing new and is often used by the left in order to avoid having to answer difficult questions or address uncomfortable topics. It is also an example of how the Democratic Party tries to silence their critics by labeling them as racist or xenophobic. This type of behavior is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.
The American people deserve to know the truth about what is going on in our government and should not be subjected to the Democratic Party’s attempts to distract from the real issues at hand. It is time for the Democratic Party to stop playing politics with the American people’s trust and start being honest about what is going on in our government.
