Another week rolls around, bringing yet another troubling tale of violent crime that can be traced back to illegal immigrants. The narrative is a familiar one: while the actions of a few shouldn’t tarnish the whole community, the reality is that when the border is wide open—like a 24-hour diner—dangerous individuals slip through the cracks faster than you can say “border crisis.” With millions of illegal crossings occurring, each incident of violence screamed from the headlines becomes a predictable outcome of lax policies.
The latest incident comes straight out of Indiana, where an illegal alien was arrested for stabbing a 14-year-old girl, all while she was innocently watching her brother play baseball. The timing couldn’t be more ironic; the suspect had previously been deported back to Honduras in 2018 when Trump was in office—a stark reminder of what might have been if only that border wall had been built a little faster. But, as luck would have it, he managed to sneak back in, courtesy of the lax enforcement policies under the watch of Vice President Kamala Harris. What a wonderful endorsement for a potential Harris presidency.

Fortunately, in this case, the young girl received medical care and was released. Others, however, have not been as lucky. This particular perp managed to slip back into the country during the Biden administration, though it’s anyone’s guess if he was duly vetted or just one of the countless “got-aways” who have crossed into the U.S. during the last couple of years. More alarming still is the case of another illegal who was apprehended after previously being convicted of murder. This individual somehow eluded law enforcement after being deported four times. Such testimonies only reaffirm the security concerns of those at the border, who witness a staggering influx of criminals every day.
The San Diego border sector remains a hotspot, with illegal entries from countries around the globe. Reports note that just recently, dozens of Chinese and Jordanians were apprehended crossing illegally. Meanwhile, up in Colorado, the Democratic governor’s routine of dismissing a violent illegal immigrant gang takeover of an apartment complex was turned upside down after video evidence made it impossible to ignore. It’s a classic case of “I see it, now I believe it,” as the governor’s office started taking the matter “seriously” only once it was too late to sweep it under the rug.
Promises are being made by former President Donald Trump to deal with these foreign gang members, vowing to remove them from American streets. While some studies have claimed that immigrants, overall, commit fewer crimes than those born in the U.S., recent data raises more than a few eyebrows. As crime rates for immigrants have been surging in other countries—where foreigners, for example, made up 15 percent of Germany’s population but accounted for a whopping 41 percent of crime—it becomes time to reevaluate those seemingly cozy statistics. In New York City, the narrative is similar, with illegal immigrants making up a staggering percentage of arrests in centralized areas.
America has always prided itself on being a nation of immigrants, and there’s no disagreement on the necessity of welcoming those who come legally. Yet, as recent events show, applying some common-sense filters—those that ensure national interest, economic stability, and public safety—is not just warranted; it’s imperative. The open-border policies favored by the Democrats are proving to be disastrous, and the American people are waking up to the need for better enforcement and accountability at the border.
