Lara Trump Touts Strong Fundraising Amid Trial; Tax Complexity Soars Under Biden

On News Nation’s “Morning in America” show, Lara Trump, the Republican National Committee Co-Chair and daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump was asked how the Trump family is doing as the trial continues, and if the trial will affect campaign fundraising. She talked about her father-in-law’s strength and the support he receives, mentioning the $100 million raised in the four weeks she took over the RNC as co-chair and how 98% of those donations were under $200, showing that the average person in the country is behind her father-in-law.

The National Taxpayers Union Foundation released its annual “tax complexity study,” using the latest IRS data to estimate the time and compliance burdens associated with filing income tax returns. The study showed that Americans spent 6.5 billion hours preparing their income tax returns and the compliance burden cost taxpayers could have nearly tripled their time off. The Republican National Committee warned the public about President Biden’s recent call for a $4.9 trillion tax increase and a higher business tax rate.

This election year, spending on political advertising is expected to reach a record $15.9 billion, and the National Association of Broadcasters has warned about the rise of misinformation posing a complex challenge, especially during election season. It provided broadcasters with an Election Toolkit to promote voter registration, education, and curb misinformation meant to mislead the public. An Economist/YouGov poll showed the approval and disapproval ratings for President Biden, with a strong disapproval from 82% of Republicans and a strong approval from 36% of Democrats.
