A new poll shows that Democrats are open to considering a non-traditional candidate for president in 2024, such as former actress and controversial Royal Meghan Markle.
The U.K. Express reported that a survey conducted by the Democracy Institute revealed that a majority of Democrats would like to see a woman as their candidate for president in 2024.
Patrick Basham, the institute’s director, stated that the results of the survey showed that most Democrats would like to see a woman as their candidate for president in 2024.
Prior to this, former first lady Michelle Obama was considered a serious candidate. However, she did not appear to be interested in running. The other major factor that has been weighing on the minds of Democrats is the former Royal Meghan Markle.
A total of 64 percent of Democrats would like to see a woman as their candidate for president in 2024. The survey was conducted by the institute and included over 500 Democrats. It also found that 27 percent of the respondents would like to see the Markle run.
Despite being picked as the heir apparent to Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris was only able to garner 25 percent of the vote. Even though she is a relatively unknown politician, she can’t beat the former actress who became famous due to her role in a royal family.
In third place was former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who lost to Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election. Also, in a joint third place was Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a member of the House of Representatives from New York.
Democrats should refrain from assuming that the Sussexes will be able to solve their problems. While they are more popular in the US than they are in Britain, a royal expert noted that the couple still has critics in the country.
