Florida Republican Representative Matt Gaetz and five other conservative lawmakers have introduced the “FBI Washington Field Office House Arrest Act” to the House of Representatives. This act seeks to halt all spending allocated towards the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) new headquarters outside the District of Columbia.

This legislation comes in response to the December 2022 Omnibus package, which allocated $375 Million for a new FBI headquarters. The three proposed locations for the new headquarters are two in Maryland and one in Virginia.
The introduction of this bill is a direct response to the Weaponization Subcommittee’s investigations, which uncovered testimony from FBI whistleblowers that the Washington Field Office is targeting Americans who oppose their corrupt political agenda.
Representative Gaetz stated, “The cancer at the Washington Field Office has metastasized so large that the entire body is in critical condition. Gifting the FBI a new headquarters larger than the Pentagon would condone, reinforce, and enable their nefarious behavior to levels we have never seen before.”
It is clear that the FBI has become a political tool of the left and is being used to target innocent Americans who oppose their agenda. This legislation is a much needed step in curbing the power of the FBI and preventing them from using their resources to target innocent citizens.
The co-sponsors of this bill are Arizona Representative Andy Biggs, North Carolina Representative Dan Bishop, Arizona Representative Paul Gosar, Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and Wyoming Representative Harriet Hageman. This bipartisan effort is a testament to the importance of this bill and how it will help protect innocent Americans from the FBI’s political agenda.
The Republican Party has long been an advocate for protecting American citizens from government overreach and this bill is just another example of that. It is time for Congress to take action and put an end to the FBI’s weaponization of their resources against innocent citizens. The “FBI Washington Field Office House Arrest Act” is a necessary step in restoring justice and protecting American citizens from government overreach.
