NYU and NYPD Face Off with Pro-Palestinian Protesters at Gould Plaza

It was a showdown at New York University as students and faculty clashed with law enforcement after being told to clear out of Gould Plaza. The ruckus started when the university, concerned about safety and security, instructed the pro-Palestinian protesters to disperse by 4 p.m. But did they listen? Of course not! They just kept on with their shenanigans, and the cops had to step in around 8:15 p.m. to restore order.

The NYU bigwigs had already warned the protesters earlier on Monday that if no more protesters joined in, they could hang out in the plaza. But, surprise, surprise, the barricades were broken, chaos ensued, and their peaceful little demonstration turned into disorderly and antagonizing behavior. The university had to put its foot down. They can’t have people getting hurt, ya know!

And let’s not forget about the pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University, causing quite the stir. Those demonstrations are getting flak for being hostile towards Jewish students. Some politicians are even calling for the head honcho at Columbia to resign for not ensuring a safe learning environment for all the students. It’s a real mess over there.

On top of all that, Columbia University had to switch to hybrid classes because of the ongoing protests, and that’s not even mentioning that Monday was Passover. Can you believe the nerve of these protesters disrupting the normal flow of things? It’s enough to make a person want to pull their hair out.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the New York Police Department for more deets on the NYU protests, but who knows if they’ll spill the beans. It’s a wild world out there, folks.
