Disney’s reputation has taken a dive since the beginning of the year-long feud with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, according to a recently published poll. It’s no surprise as Disney is no longer the place for wholesome family entertainment, it’s more focused on pushing the radical LGBT agenda over common-sense conservative values. The corporation accuses Governor DeSantis’ Parental Rights in Education bill of not being inclusive enough of the LGBTQ community. It appears Disney is more interested in ensuring that the rights of a small minority take precedence over the desires of most of its customers.
According to the Axios-Harris poll, Disney dropped 12 places from last year and now sits at a lowly 77th place. Of the 100 companies polled, Disney was also named the 5th-most polarizing company, meaning that evaluations differed significantly between Republican and Democrat respondents. The Governor recently enacted legislation dissolving the Reedy Creek Improvement District that oversaw Disney’s special tax district and has since created his own state control board. This means that Disney is now under the same rules and regulations as the rest of Florida’s businesses. Surely, it is only reasonable that Disney lives under the same laws as every other business in Florida.

Disney, however, wouldn’t go down without a fight and made last-minute agreements with Reedy Creek to revert the developmental rights to the corporation. This was to thwart the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board who were planning some development in the area. Governor DeSantis signed legislation in May to nullify those eleventh-hour agreements. Disney was sued by the Governor, with the state control board approving the lawsuit. The district is determined to seek justice in court.
It’s no surprise the public is turning against Disney. Simple values such as free speech, parental rights, and individual liberties are important to people. Disney’s failure to support these essential American values and instead promote a partisan agenda are the reasons why it’s experiencing a decline in public opinion. Ultimately, time will tell how far Disney’s reputation can fall before it’s too late. All we can say is that Disney better start listening to its audience and act accordingly, or it will face the consequences.
