Ohio’s proposed constitutional amendment is more radical than its supporters have claimed, and it appears that the amendment is just a vehicle to prohibit all abortion restrictions, including sex-change surgeries. Recently resurfaced tweets from Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity (URGE), a group supporting the amendment, reveal that abolishing parental involvement in minors’ abortions and sex-change surgeries is just the beginning. In fact, URGE advocates for the complete abolition of parental involvement laws, and has expressed its direct opposition to laws requiring parental consent for a minor’s abortion. The group has also come out publicly against notifying parents when their child is experiencing gender dysphoria.

URGE is not alone in its fight against parental rights. Democrats majorly fund the organization, as well as Planned Parenthood, which has also teamed up with URGE to push the amendment in Ohio.
Your daily reminder that parental involvement laws are unethical and must be abolished. Every pregnant person deserves full autonomy over their body and pregnancy, regardless of their age or family situation. pic.twitter.com/ksNxp6LLJe

Happy International Cat Day! We’re here to remind you that young ppl cannot be free until we’re given the freedom to make decisions about our own bodies, lives, & futures. Parental involvement laws block this & violate our humanity. End parental involvement laws MEOW! 🐱✨ pic.twitter.com/V6xjbHDqd7

Today, Florida will enact a #FLParentalConsent bill forcing minors to gain parental permission for an abortion. This bill both polices the body and choices of young people, and endangers their mental, physical and emotional health. END PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT LAWS. #MyVoiceMyChoice

A3.3 We should continue to mobilize on the state and local levels. Young ppl face unique barriers when trying to access abortion. We need policies that get rid of parental involvement laws so that young people can access abortion without unnecessary restrictions. #MaternalJustice

It's time to END parental involvement laws. We're ALL worthy of self-determination! 📢

NEW: The groups promoting the anti-parent abortion amendment in Ohio CLAIM they aren’t trying to end parental rights.
But @OH_ReproFreedom coalition member @Urge_Org has been working to abolish parental consent and notification laws for years.
And we have the receipts. pic.twitter.com/RT11iPovyS

These actions are all part of Democrats’ ongoing efforts to usurp parents’ roles in their children’s lives, treating kids as wards of the state. The Biden administration has also made veiled comments about America’s children belonging to a collective, with Vice President Kamala Harris saying American kids are “our children.” Democrats see education as critical to pushing their politics and culture on young people, but parents stand in the way. Hence, Democrats seem to have no choice but to remove parents’ rights to play their critical role in raising their kids. If anyone needed convincing that this is the case, URGE’s tweets should be enough.
Protect Women Ohio, a group working to inform Ohio voters about the amendment, says that Democrats’ real intentions are to remove all parental rights gradually, with the amendment just one step in their plan.
